Team Work for Offense, Defense & Special Teams
Every practice I run stations, which help with the individual specific drills needed by positions. I also make sure that I run a lot of full teamwork during each youth football practice.
I work on full special teams after our pre practice stretches. I go through the following special teams in this order
- Kick Off, including On Side kick
- Punt Team
- Punt Receiving
- Kick Off Return, including On Side Return
- PAT
Later in the youth football practice after we have run our stations, we come together for full teamwork. When we run our offense, we work on getting our timing down and perfecting the plays we have learned in stations. I also review all of the previous plays that have previously been installed in earlier practices.
When we practice team defense it is usually versus a scout team running our opponents plays. The scout team is usually made up of the assistant coaches and the non-starting defensive players. We get all our information on our opponents from our scouting reports.
It is important to have the teamwork together as a unit so they can learn all the proper timing that is crucial for your youth football team.
